Experience
Ali Zidel (formerly Meyers) holds a Master of Arts in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan. She graduated with highest distinction from both universities. Washington University selected her as Outstanding Practicum Winner in her clinical graduate work in health and mental health. For over 20 years, she has specialized in writing (for middle school through college levels) and Executive Functioning (EF) coaching. Ali consults for schools, parent groups, and organizations on teaching and effectively building these skills. Her extensive experience has prompted parent groups, schools, corporations, and the National Tutoring Association to host Ali as a featured speaker. In addition, she is among the founding partners of the Children's Health Council Executive Functioning Advisory Group. Ali also has a passion for and expertise in private school, college, and graduate admissions essay coaching. She has worked with myriad students to help them create, polish, and submit successful college and fellowship admissions essays.
Ali’s teaching focuses on helping students realize and leverage their unique assets while confronting weak areas with practical tools and a supportive, caring attitude. Outside of her work, Ali has led a writing group at Stanford Cancer Center's Supportive Care Program and served on the Advisory Board for Project Giving Kids, a nonprofit serving families in the Bay Area, Boston, and Los Angeles. She also loves to walk, read, write, and affectionately annoy her college-aged kids.
